…Well, about me really.
My name is Jason Forrest. Self promotion is not my strongest point by any means. But I will at least attempt to give you a little insight into who you will be dealing with if you decide to have your website designed by, developed by and/or hosted by Wild Web Design.
So, Here we go….
I founded Wild Web Design in 2013 in an attempt to make a little extra money during the winter months when my lawn mowing business is seasonally quite. I have had a keen interest in computers since the early 1980’s. And with the arrival of the internet in the early 90’s I quickly took an interest in website design. It has been a slow learning curve for me between jobs, marriage, children, sport and other small business ventures. There have been periods of years where I have not had any time to put into refining my skills in website design. At other times I have been behind the computer 16 hours a day for months at a time researching and trying out new techniques….
Which brings me to the point where I am at now. I have been running a successful lawn mowing business for several years. But this year in particular, the lack of rain has seen that business stagnate somewhat, leaving me with up to 3 or 4 days per week up my sleeve and a family to support.
So I have revisited the website design idea with renewed gusto. My enthusiasm has been fuelled by the power of such content management systems as WordPress, MySQL databases, PHP and CSS styling along with HTML5 and high resolution graphics. It really is an exciting time to be a website designer/developer. I have found myself able to dive into technical areas that I have admittedly been a little fearful of in the past. Now I find myself in a position where I feel I would be doing myself an injustice not to pursue a career in website design.
I am currently studying a diploma of Website Development to further develop my skills.
I also foster a keen interest in the English language and have had a love of reading and writing since a very young age. I have been able to apply these skills to copy writing and Search Engine Optimisation. This is an added bonus for me as an emerging developer because I don’t need to outsource such resources. I like to keep as much as possible in house and in Australia.
My particular area of interest is small business because small business is the real driving force behind Australia and needs to be recognised as such. The difficulties faced by small business owners and in particular sole traders are all too familiar to me. My main aim is to provide good quality, cost-effective websites to my small business clients that rank well in searches and ultimately improve their sales.
To top it all off I have a good understanding of network management and although I am no engineer, I am more than capable of hosting and maintaining all websites that I develop. So, with the help of my good friends at VentraIP, I can assure all of my clients that their websites are hosted on the most reliable web servers available. The data centres in Sydney and Melbourne are managed by VentraIP who are a 100% Australian owned company. This is great for Australian Small Businesses because websites hosted in your own country perform much better in search engines. And because I keep everything in house, you only need to deal with one company saving you both time and money.
In summing up I want to say that this is an exciting time for me and I really look forward to getting to work designing developing and hosting websites that will improve your business.
